Did any one whose I-485 was Xfr'd from NSC->CSC->NSC receive FP notice? If so, please list your city/state where FP is scheduled and if you opened a SR for FP.
In particular, i want to track folks from bay area, CA and those who didn't open SR.
Thanks!
I called them up yesterday and i was kept on hold for around 2:15 hrs before i hung up! the music was not pleasing either! Will give it a try again sometime tomorrow!

Did anybody fly recently in Lufthansa to India? I wanted to know whether you need transit visa.
I have booked the tickets in Lufthansa to india in Dec.
My travel agent says you dont need transit visa if you have AP.
Since i have time now, i can apply nowif needed.
Also please give me the details about the appln forms to apply for the transit visa.
please advise.
I came back via Frankfurt on Lufthansa last month, on AP no problems.

Senate majority leader and the bill sponsors have said before that they would like senate to take up this issue in March and a final vote sometime in April. Now whether you can trust these guys for what they say or if the political situation in March will allow this to happen, no one really knows. To some extent, it's like visa bulletin prediction where we almost never get it right. Just do your own research and by March 30th, we'll all know if it was taken up or not. If not, we'll predict that it will be taken up by April .. and the saga will continue. After few hundred posts, you'll learn not to ask these kind of questions which no one has any answer for. :D

yes, my I-140 is approved. If your old employer revokes the I-140, as part of the processing of that revocation the USCIS *might* issue an RFE or NOID asking you for an updated employment verification letter. Per my attorney its more likely that USCIS wont do anything to the 485 right now, but will check the status of the I-140 while processing my 485. As part of preadjudication it might happen earlier, but also possible that it will only happen when my PD is current or almost current (July-2006/EB2/India). At that point we should get an RFE, and thats when my attorney plans to inform USCIS about the AC-21 change of employer.
Just a quick question:
My employer had legal dept and lawer filed G28 form for me when applied for I-485. Do we really need to hire a lawyer to represent us? I am planning to move to client under similar job description this month end and would like to see if I have to file AC21 and change the lawer representation.
I appreciate any response.

just for comparison sakes...do remember that the distance from churchgate to virar (in bombay) is 35 km. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mumbai_Suburban_Railway.
That is equivalent of approx 22 miles. I doubt there is anybody is bombay that drives 35 km one way on a daily basis. But in the US living 10-20 miles from work is not bad. People in my office drive about 40 miles one way without blinking an eyelid. Some drive even more. Plus the cars that they have in india have smaller engines, smaller capacity thereby better gas mileage.
So for people who say gas is a non issue, think again.
Yes, thinking again, my opinion still remains the same. Gas prices in the US moved up from 25c a gallon in the late 60s to what it is now. No one stopped driving on account of that. Ditto with India.
I say, we will not see signifcant changes in the US lifestyle due to increasing gas prices. People will adapt and continue to do what they are doing. But this is theory and cannot be substantiated with evidence. Hence, I accept I could be wrong too.

I think EB2 India may be retrogressed only for the month of September as most of the visas will be used in August itself. The dates will rapidly advance once again with the new quota in October. I think it is very likely that EB2 will be compensated with the number of visas that were improperly given to EB3 last year. So I expect EB2 to receive those extra visas from EB3 quota next year as DOS will try to compensate retrogressed countries in EB2 for the mistake that they made last year. If this happens, EB2 may become current very soon.
I strongly think DOS tried to compensate EB2 this year itself with the visas that were improperly given to EB3 last year after it received the directives from the US Congress. But unfortunately DOS could not compensate EB2 with the lost visas this year as there were no visas left in EB3 by the time they realized their mistake about 2 months ago as EB3 used most of their visas. This is exactly why DOS made EB3 unavailable so that they can compensate EB2 atleast to some extent. By law they are required to compensate a category that was artificially retrogressed because of their mistakes. It is highly unlikely we will see any significant movement in EB3 ROW or retrogressed countries until the entire EB2 category is current as EB2 will be compensated from EB3 quota. If EB2 is compensated with the visas from the new quota in October, then I expect EB2 including India and China to become current by the end of the year or early 2009(before March 2009) itself.
Once EB2 becomes current, I think EB3 India will get equal spill over as EB3 ROW as both the categories will be retrogressed and will move equally(as per PD) with the spillover from EB2 and EB1
yes. there is a possibility of some retrogression for EB2 India/China in the comming bulletins. But that is just for few months and it might be a mild retrogression as long as there is horizontal fall outs of spill over visas.

Great topic. wating one more year would mean 12 more months of rent. so even if the house depreciates it would break even considering the lost rent. This is just my opinion assuming that the depreciation would be less than 5-10% till next summer. Experts please list out the hidden costs involved in mortgage for new home buyers to be careful about.
There was a talk on my local radio channel sometime back on the topic.
One guy called up and said he was paying $650 as rent and was planning to buy a home instead to build equity.
The expert gave him advice which I totally agree with. He said, a home will cost you a lot more than $650 a month in mortgage, insurance, property tax and maintenance. You will not really make any money for a long time. If you wish to make money, take the extra money you are willing to spend each month and invest in bonds, etc., which can give you better returns.
I think buying a home as an investment is not the greates idea, unless all the above factors have been considered. The real goal should be that the family or individual wants to live in a house instead of an apartment as a lifestyle choice. If this is not the primary goal, then think twice. Especially true in the case of several immigrants who see a home strictly as an investment and are totally obsessed about the money they will make or lose when they sell it.
Let us face it....no one knows what the real estate market will be 5 years from now, and again in 10 years from now and then again and again. If we want to be absolutely sure that we will sell our home someday and we have to make a profit, then no one can give that gurantee. Thinking along those lines is a pointless exercise.
