Is it just me, or a 24" iMac would've been nice to show on stage with whatever that "Showtime" thing might be? That would, at least, have made some sense to at least start by showing that.
Which means the september 12th presentation must be really packed with new stuff if they couldn't even announce the 24" iMac at that event. They've also bumped the CPUs on the Mac mini today, so that makes two updates on the same day too.
It's also weird to see new releases on a wednesday...

I suspect the rumoured Airport Express Video will be announced (or rather it's more likely than not), and some tweaks to the iPod line are also in the offing, but I'm not expecting either to appear that exciting at first.

People need to stop with the "OMG windows is $400" talk. It's just silly.
It doesn't seem silly to me at all. What is the point of upgrading to Vista Home Basic? It's a substantially crippled version of the OS, and doesn't seem to offer much if anything over XP, and certainly nothing compelling. To get something closer to OSX's out-of-the box functionality, they'll need to spend far more. It's true that retail box upgrades are a small fraction of Windows sales, but this only goes to show how wary Windows users are of upgrading, and that the vast majority will only buy into the newest version of Windows when it comes pre-installed on a new PC -- IOW, when they have no other choice.
One of the many ironies here is that we're forever hearing about how Apple shafts their customers with high prices, but when Microsoft does it in an even more naked and obvious way, people fall all over themselves to excuse it. Now that's silly!

Awesome! So this means I can use my Plextor 16x burner in the second optical bay? Or will that not work with an Apple?Didn't I tell you yes yesterday? Just buy a copy of Toast 7 for full support. You can also run multiple copioes of Taost 7 on one Mac. I run up to 4 or 5 simultaneously sometimes on my Quad G5 writing DVD Images to multiple HDs.

Seems to have solved my Macbook shutdown problem. It used to shut down 4-5 times a day.. since I applied the patch.. it hasn't shut down since the last 5 hours. It's also very quiet.. it was always quiet but sometimes the fans would kick in.. now I hear nothing.
Quite pleased that Apple takes notice and figures out solutions rather quickly.

I am surprised so many PCs are sold as it is. I wonder if people are happy with them or they just sit in a drawer or closet somewhere.
Macs aren't the answer to everyone's needs. Apple only have a touch over 4% of the worldwide market so do you think the other 96% of customers are sitting there head in hand wishing they had a Mac?
Apple have targeted the highly profitable premium home market and now dominate it. They aren't interested in the low end or business market because they don't need a huge market share to do well and are prepared to let their competitors fight amongst themselves for those lower margin sales.

I think that is the older recall mentioned above. I exchanged mine (free) when I bought my used PB several months ago.

For those hoping for a merom MacBook Pro (like me) on the 12th, I wouldn't hold your breath. Going by previous Apple laptop upgrade cycles, I would expect to see the merom MBP by around the middle of October.
I don't think that we'll be kept waiting quite that long. I don't think Steve will let Dell and other companies put out Core 2 Duos without Apple being close behind.
I do think we'll see a very soon Tuesday or Sept. 12th release. If not, a ton of college going students aren't going to be pleased.

Unfortunately not. This extremely tired and overworked theoretical man cannot ask his boss, because the freelance work conflicts with the corporate work. He also just uses photoshop. He's looked for cheaper tools - really wants to love pixelmator, but it just falls too short, and doesn't offer the compatibility he needs to work with his colleagues. He'd love to buy an older version of the suite - CS3 would be fine - if he could find it at a reasonable price, which he can't.
This guy - like I imagine many other "pirates" - isn't a bad guy. He WANTS to buy it, but it's tough to swallow that kind of an asking price. One day soon, when he can afford to, he'll pay the price. He just can't right now.
Look, anyone can make up stories to try to prove a point. You won't change my mind and I still think your over emotional made-up scenario is pure bunk to try to tug at the strings of the heart. The people who "pirate" Creative Suite are talentless hacks who probably pirate it for the sake of saying they have it (hoarders, what most software pirates are), not to use it in any meaningful way.

Why so many negatives, I love 3D stuff when it's done correctly. Lots of fun in my opinion. Though I really doubt Apple would put a 3D screen on the iPad.

First, Flash works just fine on most modern Macs. The only noticeable issue I see is, that on a Mac Mini C2D 2.0GHz and a Mac Book C2D 2.0GHz the fans go crazy when viewing Flash.
The problem is, that Flash in OS X requires much higher CPU exertion, than Flash in Windows. But also, in my experience, running Flash in Safari pushes the CPU significantly harder, than running Flash in Firefox, Camino or even Chrome (which is also a Webkit browser.) See this post (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=8739278&postcount=427) for exact numbers.
Which tells me, that Apple has done a poor job of getting Safari to work well with Flash.
In addition, even if Adobe is lazy, obtuse, incompetent, or whatever you want to believe they are, during all these years, Apple could have dedicated a competent employee, to guide Adobe and help make Flash work better on OS X. Any normal business would have made this effort, if they thought it was a problem worth investing in. But I bet, that Apple figures that most users don't even realize that there is a high CPU load, and of the once who do, at least some will be dumb enough to just blame Flash for everything.
BTW, Safari has major issues with Java stuff as well, and most Safari crashes I had in OS 10.5.x, were due to that, not Flash.
As to the iPhone, the issue is most likely Apple's reluctance to open the door to Flash apps competition to its own Applications Store. I am certain, that Apple will have Flash on the iPhone, once it starts losing sales to the new crop of Androids coming up.

Apple does not have the best have a build quality better then everyone else. They have some very good computers, but their are companies who build much better computers you have no evidence to back up your statement. Macs use the same hardware as everyone else.
It is true that Apple does use the same parts (e.g. RAM, etc) as other PC manufactures but Apple does design the layout of their own logic boards and another manufacturer assembles it. Apple does not use off the shelf logic boards, batteries, casings, keyboards and mice. Not too mention the A4 and A5 processor are custom built for Apple only.
You are so fixated in your assesment about Apple not using "the best parts" or not "building the best quality computers". Is your reason for being here to set everyone straight? Does it bother you that a community of people believe that what they own is the best? Be honest now.
I come to these forums because I am a Mac enthusiast. I don't go onto the Windows or Android forums and try to shove down peoples throats what I think about Windows or Android. That's not cool and neither is someone coming onto these forums and thinking they are going to set these people straight because you believe they are wrong.

No sir. Only the vertical screen is connected to the MBP via a Monoprice Miniport to HMDI connection. The other two screens are connected via Dual Link DVI to my PC that you can kinda see under the table (green lights).

If you look at the picture of the iPhone poster, it seems to have a couple of subtle differences compared to my iPhone:
