    Agreed. Dream prices:

    20"= $450
    24"=$600
    30"=$1000

    They could always fill the $2k dispay spot with a 50", HDTV Capable display that supported 20 million pixles :D

    More like
    20"-$549
    24"-$899
    30"-as is.

    I suppose part of that is you can tell which computers are Apples from quite a distance, but not really tell the difference between HP and Dell.

    I don't compare Apple to Dell or to HP. I just check if there is an apple on the cover or not.

    The part I find hysterical is when on TV the news show puts tape on top of the Apple logo. Or in the print ad the apple logo is photoshopped off.

    BTW one time the news show was talking about mobile phones and the 5 members of the news team all took out their phones to check them.

    4 of the 5 were iPhone 4 and the fifth guy just looked embarrassed.

    It's about time Wal-Mart gets burned to the ground.

    I hope that this pisses off the studios royally. The sooner we shift to a purely electronic method of distribution, the better everything is.

    There's no way that Wal-Mart would stop selling DVDs, and what else could they possibly do? Raise prices?

    It's retarded. Wal-Mart won't lose any substantial sum of money if iTunes carries movies from all the major houses. But they will lose tons if they stop selling DVDs.

    This just seems really foolish to me. They're not in a good position (for once). Granted, it could hurt the studios for a while, but people want to see movies more than they want to shop at Wal-Mart, methinks.

    I don't know if you like Firefight mode, but they have matchmaking available for that. That way, you aren't competing against other people, so you shouldn't feel too outclassed. And since the max players for that is 4, it finds matches super quick. Maybe give that a shot and see how it goes.

    My issue with Firefight is the betrayal system which I hear Bungie is looking at. Because Firefight - Matchmaking IS a competition. When playing gametypes like Sniper - fight, & especially Rocket - fight, there is always the one or two that have to get EVERY kill. I have no problem with that, but since the Sniper & Rocket Fight gametypes involve distance weapons one or two will usually stray into your line of fire. This suddenly becomes YOUR fault, and the idiot who rushed into that swarm of elite you are firing on, gets to boot you from the game. Some players have gotten to the point of abusing the boot feature, which is why Bungie is looking into it.

    I admit I am not the biggest fan of Halo multiplayer, not liking the general community that plays.

    I think this is the two ways the market share for Macs is gained:

    1. Windows users buy an iDevice, then another iDevice, then another iDevice... Then they buy a Mac.

    2. Hardcore Mac users (like myself) have children and because of the heavy Mac influence from the start, they turn out to like and use Macs. Thats what happened with me. I grew up with all Macs and no Windows:D

    You left out another important source of influence, and that's the school systems. Smart school systems usually buy Macs for the classrooms because they are much lower cost to maintain.

    By maintain, I'm speaking of the time it costs to add software, upgrade programs, add perephrials, hook up networks, and all the things you don't need a staff of geeks to just keep the computers doing what you bought them for.

    So, kids in all grades and into college get to use Macs a lot and love them.

    IBM discovered the power of the classroom back in the 1950s. By working hard to get typing classes switched over to Selectric typewriters they created a generation of users more at home on an IMB machine than on a Royal...the market leader at the time. It almost killed Royal.

    Nope. Probably not even close. The Air doesn't have the processors or graphics required for even the current version

    1GB of RAM, 2GB recommended, 4GB for uncompressed HD.
    ATI or Nvidia graphics processor.

    http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/specs/

    Maxed out Air matches that, hell, low end Air matches that. I'm not saying it will be fast, because it will be deathly slow. But it'll run.

    Sadly, Vegas will cost you more for a week than SF (if you want to do it "right").

    It all depends what you want to do in Vegas. If you're wanting to go to restaurants, shows, and/or spa then $1500 is plenty for a few nights of that and you'll have some left over for quarter VP/slots. If you're wanting to go to the club and buy 4 bottles every night...then $1500 isn't going to get you very far.

    Now I don't know what to do. I need an iPod that can hold all of my media (just my music alone is over 100 GB) so I can bring it with me wherever I go. (I hate having to choose a portion of my music instead of just grabbing it all.) But the MacRumors Buyer's Guide says not to buy - update soon. So is Apple going to kill it or release a new version? If I wait, I might miss out on getting one. But if I get one now, I might miss out on a better model. Ugh.

    Haven't heard from Boehner about JOBS, JOBS, JOBS either.

    Anybody who thinks this is anywhere near what Dubya got us into with Iraq has the reading comprehension of a head of cabbage.

    That said, I hope we don't get much deeper into this.

    Agreed, this is nothing like Iraq. That said, the role of the US-led coalition now extends fairly far beyond a no-fly zone and "all necessary measures" to protect civilians, as authorized by the U.N. Resolution. According to this (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/29/us/29military.html?ref=global-home), they're actively targeting Gadhafi's forces with both military might and propaganda in order to cause Gadhafi to lose support.

    I'm not saying I'm opposed to this, this seems like a much smarter way to fight a war than full-scale invasion/nation building.

    You still have not explained your position. Why does a country NEED such a large military budget and how does it benefit the citizens of said country?

    As for why Countries like Canada and the US fare better with a large Military.

    Let's call it a personal preference ... I am not as convinced as others that may believe having a strong Military should be a low priority.

    To each their own ... have you ever thought that if the US slashed their military budget to 100 billion ... that money would just get squandered away.

    or do people think ... oh no, our Government all of a sudden would spend it wisely.

    I think something that's hugely undersold recently is the extra security. Macs provide better security (no matter how you slice it) and with less nagging. This may not be a big deal to tech-savvy people who know how to protect themselves, but my mom getting a virus on her computer ranks up there with being audited by the IRS.

    That kind of stress on a normal user will make them switch and never look back.

    Sad part is, as adoption increases...so will viruses/malware/trojans/etc.

    Best analogy Ive heard is:

    Windows 7 is a house with bars on the windows, and industrial locks on the doors...in Baltimore.

    OSX is a house with no locks, in the middle of nowhere.

    :mad: It's about time Apple did something about these MB's. I work for IT and I've had atleast 5 reports of random shutting down (and then failing to go past the gray screen after start up). EDIT: the past fortnight

    I wouldn't go near these machines if I was in the market for a portable...

    I was actually hoping to get Merom chips into the Macbook today, so i have been waiting for today to purchase my new Macbook. But i do not see the old Ipod nano's there and i suppose the new ones don't fall into the deal. Is this correct??? Also, why don't these have the EDU discount. Thanks in advance!!!!

    See this - the price of the spec I want in US Dollars, when converted to British Pounds, is...1337!
    :D I like that!

    I love Intel's naming scheme right now, how there's the Core 2 Duo for the desktop, and the...Core 2 Duo for notebooks...which are the same, but slightly different...and they both follow on from the Core Solo and Duo...which aren't actually Core processors...*headexplodes*

    Bring on Merom MBP's! Then get them preloaded with Leopard before the end of February so I can still get it all before I graduate and get edu discount! :D
