I agree with you there is just something about the 13" MacBook that doesn't fit but the 12" its PERFECT
Agreed. I love my 12" so much I fondle it every night before bedtime, much to my boyfriend's chagrin. I surf the web in bed before sleepy-time. It keeps him awake.

Fake. Apple "ordered" a company to send all its manuscripts to it?
That's not what the article says. I interpreted it to mean that someone or some department within some publishing company was told... by someone else at the publishing company... to get all of their manuscripts archived and sent over to Apple.

As much as I love them, all of Apple's designs are getting old. The Macbook (nee iBook) has looked the same (minus a few paint jobs) for over 5 years; the current iMac design harkens back to the eMac (yes, I know, its flatter, what an innovation...wheee), which in turn was highly derivative of the original iMac. The MacBook Pro is just an AluPB, which in turn was merely a revision of the original Titanium G4. Now, the "new" iPod nano is nothing more than a iPod mini that went on a diet, and the full iPod, although much sleeker than its predecessors, is still essentially the same design as the iPod that came out in 2001. And the story goes on: the Mac Pro, a warmed over PowerMac G5; the Airport/Airport extreme, essentially unchanged since its release; the Airport Express, a power adapter with flashing lights; the iSight, unchanged since its release; the Mighty Mouse, same design as the Apple Pro Mouse, etc. Essentially, the only new designs in the last three years have been: the Mac mini, the iPod shuffle, and the Cinema Displays, none of which could be considered to be attention-getters. Even the new, unreleased "iTV" is copying the Mac mini design. Not too impressive for a company which claims high design as a main benefit. Where is the new cube? the iMac (& G4)? the tiBook? There is nothing fresh or innovative about their current lineup, nothing exciting or innovative.Instead, its all inoffensively sterile, to my eyes; walking into an Apple store has become similar to walking into IKEA, nothing unexpected, just clean lines. It's like they've become artistically constipated. Or is this just what we get for Apple's new push on "competitive prices"?
In my opinion, its time for some fresh blood, someone with a new vision. And yes, I'm looking squarely at you, Steve and Jonathan. I want to be excited again, and not just by the "guts" of the computer. I, for one, miss the Macworlds of 5 years ago...
Agreed, sadly. My first reaction to the new mini is... I mean nano is... the mini is not old enough to be retro yet! Slipping in an intermediary (the origional nano, which itself was a throwback to the origional ipod) in the line of the shrinking mini does not make it revolutionary, but in fact, makes it not even keep pace with being evolutionary! While I know that many will argue that the reason is that today's designs are perfect, and also that, particularly with laptops, color and texture and corners are the only things you can play with, that's not enough. Apple has, previously, been amazing, shocking us and making us fall in love in one move. But it's been a good long while before we've been shocked at all, and it's hard to stay in love this long.
Remember the recent redesign that has swept across BMW's lineup? The awful trunk on the 5 series, the controversy, the debate? And how tired Mercedes looked in comparison, how bland? But it wasn't a sure thing, the new beamers were risky, right? I, for one, thought that the previous generation was about as close to visually perfect as any car since a dusenberg, and hated the redesign. But.... it's grown on me, and I'm thuroughly fond of the new theme, and the old looks tired to me (in another 15 years it'll look great, no doubt).
That's what apple needs. But now they're like mercedes- beautiful, for sure, but also boring. Same with the OS! They have the capability to pull off risky designs, for sure. They would definately be a BMW rather than a GM if the decided to actually design something. But no, they can't even come up with a '07 toyota camry's worth of design.
So I'm hoping that they've been doing this strategically, to manage their risks a bit while things like the intel switch, introduction of the nano (with, remember, less memory for more money), have been providing as much risk as they can take. The important thing is, now that they're transitioned, and now that they don't have to work to sell ipods, they've got to take those risks, and do that work, or else somebody else will. If your not moving forward, your falling behind.

Parabns Brasil. Mais crescimento financeiro.
Not only good for Brazil, it's good for anyone buying electronics made by Foxconn and a good trend.
Manufacturing needs to re-globalize. China has taken on too much. Brazil and India need to get in the game and compete.
And remember -- US Companies are the primary people using these services. Microsoft would not have succeeded at X-Box, and Apple wouldn't have hit the price points for iPod/iPhone/iPad with out this type of off-shore low cost assembly business.
Basically, it's not a zero sum game. Wealth is being created all along the production chain.

So can someone explain to me why they have to get Verizon's permission to offer system upgrades over the air, when you can already go in the app store and download Angry Birds over the air? Seriously, this would be a security boon to be able to push updates without tethering them to a computer. Many people don't sync their iPhones for weeks at a time, but they are on them daily. If you can push out security updates sooner, then it is a good thing for everyone involved. And I would wager there's waaaaay more bandwidth being sucked up by iTunes and the App Store than system updates would require.
OTA update notifications are carrier initiated messages.
The carrier also caches the updates on their systems for retrieval by the consumer. I'm sure Apple would love to not have to deal with the traffic spikes every time an update were to roll out.
This way updates can be rolled out by region to prevent a massive surge in data traffic on the carriers network. This is also helpful if the carrier were to allow the update to be done completely over 3G if the consumers chooses that option.
AT&T updates only require a WiFi connection to start an OTA download, but once the download is started, the update will complete downloading over 3G if you were to lose your WiFi connection.

There seem to be varying reports of the serial numbers affected, and Apple's site seems dead right now. I'm hoping my battery IS affected, because I was getting close to ordering a new battery, as my year-and three month old battery is down to 25% of it's original capacity after 440 load cycles.
The site was up briefly and claimed 4-6 weeks for the new battery to ship. That's a LONG time to go without a battery.
Yea, but they send you the new one while you use the old one. And considering the capacity of your old battery, you probably live off the power adapter a lot anyway.
And they've probably got to manufacture a bunch of new batteries for this.

Cool Idea. Horrible implementation. Why put it in a imac or any desktop!? The angle would hurt like hell and it could never be used in a productive setting (at an office where you have to type all day) also if it only has an iOS layer then how much will it be utilized is it worth to touch the screen to open safari then use the mouse for everthing else.
Edit:
maybe it would be cool to have like an iOS crossover that replaces dashboard and has an app store but not touch screen..

Please don't tell me that anyone that actually needs the CS apps can't plunk down $450-$1000 for the EDU version, but will shell out $3000 for an overpriced Mac Pro?
Students pay either less (edu-discount-not just in the U.S.) for their Mac, buy a refurbished model or buy a used Mac from the previous owner. In the best case, this reduces the price of a previous generation Mac to one third or even to 25 percent of the original price.
And who says, students are rich? You, or what!? *lol*

No, I see what you're saying, I just disagree with it...
Whether Halo had only 4 people, 3 of them would be @$$hats

Bungie released some more details about the Matchmaking changes that are coming tomorrow. They are updating and adjusting some of the playlists and map loadouts after observing these last few weeks of play. Here is what they say is coming....
Team Slayer
SWAT is taking one in the face (being removed) and the weighting for all other gametypes will be adjusted to fall in line with voting data. Expect surprise, surprise more traditional Slayer offerings to appear.
Team SWAT
SWAT gametypes that are removed from other playlists are being incorporated into their own, unique playlist with adjustments made to modes and maps based on voting data (farewell SWAT on Hemorrhage, you sucked and everybody hated you).
Team Objective
Powerhouse will now feature several more gametypes, including 1 Flag and Stockpile. Because Powerhouse is awesome and we dont get to play it enough.
Multi Team
Rocket Race is being added. You win by staying on the Mongoose and racing to the checkpoints. (Oh, who am I kidding, youre just going to hop off and try to assassinate people, arent you?)
Big Team Battle
SWAT and Classic are being removed and the frequency of Snipers is being reduced based on you guessed it voting data.
Arena Doubles
Boardwalk and Pro options are both being removed. Default Zealot is being replaced with Arena Zealot, a map variant which features modified initial player spawns and a soft-kill zone in spaaaaaace.
Team Arena
Pro options are being removed. Arena Zealot (details above), is being added.
Score Attack
Credit earn rates for Gruntpocalypse are being reduced to fall more in line with other modes.
General Matchmaking
Alongside the major alterations listed above, a myriad of much needed fixes and tweaks to the experience will also go into effect on Tuesday, including a metric ton of small, but annoying bugs and gameplay issues that weve identified and earmarked for eradication. As these updates go live, Jeremiah will publish the full details to our Optimatch forum so you can pore over the subtle nuances of each individual change.
I'm pretty happy with the changes, more or less. I wish Team Snipers would get its own playlist, like it had in Halo 3, so it could be removed entirely from the standard Team Slayer and Big Team playlists. I'm also happy that they've said the Scorpion is being swapped for a Wraith on Hemorrhage, so that is good as well, as the Tank would more often than not, just end up ruining the game. But I'm SUPER happy that Rocket Race is coming back!! YES!!! I'm going to be playing a ton of that, just as I did with Halo 3. :D

A study was done which showed that since the advent of online dating reported cases of people on the autistic spectrum increased; it's thought that the people who spent most of their time online were able to find partners and procreate, without having to do the whole rigmarole of courting, flirting, etc.
A little off topic, but that study sounds so horribly biased and based on such seriously flawed logic on so many levels, that I fine myself baffled that someone could even come up with such a conclusion. I'm sure they ignored the age of people dating online, if they were still even able to procreate (since online daters are usually older), potential problems with having children at an older age (such as genetic mutations, premature labor), other reasons for the increase in autism (such as increased awareness or more refined diagnostic testing), environmental factors, geez the list of confounders is endless.

This is what the iPod nano always should have been: a radically slimmer iPod mini.
Love the colors. Love the new (old) shape. Love the new (old) aluminum scratch-free design.
I want one. ;)
Couldn't have said it better myself! The ipod mini design is quite simply the best ipod design (IMHO). :D
I will be buying a 4GB silver one very very soon...:p

Eh. He's replaceable. With any one of a massive raft of iPhone devs who would be more than eager to step in to replace him. Facebook doesn't really have much of a choice about developing for iPhone considering it's (iPhone) the rising star in the smartphone market, that people are clamoring for and waiting sometimes 8 weeks to buy one. If there is no Facebook app for iPhone, owners will go pounding on Facebook's door, not Apple's.
Still he's obviously entitled to do what he wants, career-wise. I just don't think it will be the big dramatic gesture he thinks it is. (What's his name?)

Good for Apple...bad for consumers.
