I was asked the following questions:
1. Which client I am currently working at and what is my role there.
2. What is my education background.
3. Paystubs and W2's
4. How long have worked for my employer
Just get your papers in order and be confident. Being confident really helps.

 I don't get it.
How can someone call themselves anti-immigrant? Those people who belong to the Anti-Immigrant group is actually an immigrant themselves somewhere in time.
We all surely knows who is native american, right?
Lets not forget, America was and continues to prosper because of hardworking and honest immigrants..

This is very risky, if not done correctly.
Assume that you would got the I-797 and started working in the US, subsequently, when you go for H1-b stamping in India, high risk of rejection there. This is because B1/B2 has a non-immigrant intention and changing the status to H1-b within the US sends the wrong signal to the Consular officer during stamping.
Correct thing to do would be go to India after getting I-797, get the H1-b stamped, re-enter US on H1 status. Everything would be alright.
I agree with what Boreal said. Also, you cannot get a H1 B stamping in Canada or MExico, if you change from B1/B2 to H1. You have to go back to ur country of origin to get it stamped.

But wasn't there a recent update that USCIS will be using USPS delivery confirmation service to send out cards..
USCIS - USCIS Improves Delivery of Immigration Documents through Secure Mail Initiative (http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=79ecdd8ae14af210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCR D&vgnextchannel=68439c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1 RCRD)

05/02/2011: USCIS Secure Mail Initiative for Delivery of EAD, AP, and Green Cards by Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation
USCIS has just released information that under a partnership with the U.S. Postal Services, USCIS has fully implemented the Secure Mail Initiative (SMI), which uses U.S. Postal Service (USPS) Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation to deliver certain immigration documents in a safe, secure and timely manner. The SMI reportedly enables USCIS to confirm delivery of permanent resident cards and documents pertaining to travel and employment authorization. With USPS tracking information, USCIS customers can easily stay up-to-date on the delivery status of their documents and USCIS can confirm that these essential documents were delivered to the proper address. SMI provides USCIS customers many benefits of ability to track the status of their documents through USPS tracking system, quicker delivery documents through USPS Priority two to four business days sooner than with first-class mail, average three days, and customer's ability to contact USCISs Customer Service Center at 800-375-5283 to request tracking information for their documents. USCIS customer service representatives will provide customers with their USPS tracking number and current USPS delivery status "two weeks" (but not earlier) after getting their approval notice in the mail. For the details, please read the USCIS release.
It is, however, not clear the meaning of "Delivery Confirmation." Currently, the USPS uses two delivery confirmation options, one option requiring signature of the receiver and other option not requiring signature upon delivery. If it is the former, the customer should make it sure that the receiver is present to sign the delivery confirmation. As soon as this is clarified, we will post the information.

Last week, I submitted my documents to my lawyer but until now I haven't received any confirmation from my employer yet if my application has been filed already. We are not allowed to contact our lawyer directly so I'm just relying on my employer about this. I'm quite concerned coz there's no way for me to find out if they have filed it or not.
Is there a way? Please help me please. Thank you
This is a subjective ques....depends on ur relations with ur employer...
Try cajoling them..if its pop-shop consulting firm , he wont budge...
Try asking other employees...if their's was filed and if they got an yhconfirmation?

I believe the consulates aborad depend on the information on the internet.
Some times they try to verify the information of the company such as the kind of business the company is into that the applicant is talking by doing a google search. It happened at one of my interviews..
They do all on the fly when the interview is happening. I could see the interviewer typing Google and then the name of the company..
I just saw this in latest Murthy bulletin about USCIS using Wikipedia and other internet based sources to gather information. This is serious news.
RFEs or Denials May Not Be Based on Wikipedia Information
The USCIS has been known to use an ever-growing number of publicly available sources, including internet sources such as Wikipedia. AILA members have been receiving denials based on the USCIS's use of information found on Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia to which anyone in the world may contribute information. As such, it should not be considered an objective or completely reliable source of information. SCOPS advised that it has notified the service centers and there should not be additional RFEs or denials based upon Wikipedia.
It should be noted that, as a corollary, applicants and petitioners should not try to use Wikipedia as support for their filings or arguments, since it has been deemed an unreliable source.

I agree you might be better off filing a new I-485 if the visa number is available once the I-140 is approved. It is sometimes difficult to get the USCIS to do the interfiling, they often don't send any acknowledgment of the same.

this is ridiculous. It doesn't really matter whether english or anything else is the main language here. As long as the driver is driving properly and follows the road signs properly, why should the police care whether the driver can read? Maybe the driver just memorizes everything, maybe the driver knows it by advanced electronic devices, telepathy, or miracle, whatever, who cares?

Just to confirm, based on webm's response
For applying the 120 day rule for I131 renewal, we should use the date printed on existing AP paper and not the date stamped by the immigration officer when a person uses AP to re-enter the country from outside.

Every lawyer is a businessman. And every businessman has a success story to tell to advertise himself. And you are unknowingly doing viral marketing. Look up on Google what viral marketing it. Has any of these lawyers done viral marketing of IV or greencard backlog action items on their forums and newsletters? So why are you advertising them? You go around town asking lawyers if they did any case successfully Showing a Valid Employer-Employee Relationship. And you will mostly get Yes answer so that they get more business. So why promoting only one lawyer.
Not sure why some folks make a big deal about some lawyer getting some advertisement. I don't work or favor any specific lawyer. I am posting some information that could be helpful to the community. If you read through that posting, you will see some smart wordings that could shut out USCIS memo.
Consider it for its content rather than who is writing it. For me IV is the primary forum. All other websites just supplement the information. We should welcome information wherever it comes from if we can benefit from it.

I just bought a new D70 and was interested in getting some advise from current owners about additional lenses and accessories.
Was looking at buying a SB-800 flash. Is this the best option?
The SB-800 is excellent, but a bit expensive. Worthwhile if you can afford it.
How about additional lenses? I have an 18-70mm AF that came with the camera.
I am looking for other nikkor lenses that are very handy to have, meaning won't sit in the bag most of the time.
Any other advice or help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Shawn
What kind of photographs do you plan to take? Lenses for bird photography are going to be different than what's needed for macro, which will be different from what's needed for architecture or landscape.
