Hi All,
Now there are 3 possibilities for "alien receipt number" that is supposed
to be written behind my photos to be included with I-485:
-1- the filed i-140 receipt number
-2- a number that appears in i-140 approved letter
-3- the A# from my F1-OPT-EAD (this is called "alien registration number for sure")
Any more clarifications on which one of the above three is actually "alien receipt number"?

Wow that's a relief. I know you might have already done so just confirm the date until when the I-94 is issued and make a copy just in case.

Thank you so much for a detailed reply.I really appreciate your time to write this. I don't have I-140 approval notice but have a copy of online 140 case status page showing it's approved.. Did use this during my MTR.
I did renew my EAD & AP May24th and AP approved and EAD still under initial review.Hopefully I will get it soon.
One more question.In case of H1B extension denial, has any effort on my pending 485?

I find it difficult to digest that parents ship their infant children to someone else to raise.
Dude, if you find it difficult to digest, then don't do it with your kid. Its that simple.
A debate on this is probably not warranted, as its subjective to every individual's situation.
And btw, both my kids live with me, but they travelled with someone else to spend their vacation at grand-parent's house, so I am not trying to oppose your viewpoint.

I cannot get the approved 140 notice from the employer, so trying to see if I can get it from somewhere else.
You can also locate the priority date in the I-140 approval notice.

my 140 was approved a week and a half back ..and i asked my attorney ..if my date was successfully ported..and he is refusing to divulge the information and telling me to contact my company..
1.) i know 140 is a employers prerogative and all that jazz..but should i not get a copy..or at least some basic information?
2.) Am i wrong is even asking for that information?

Its a crime to influence someone at position to have access to information systems and distribute the data without written permission from the organization.
Both the parties can be prosecuted for this crime..you for soliciting the information for which you have no authority to receive except following proper protocol
Well, that's true but I was being facetious. :-) I am an IT manager and I am aware of laws and regulations. My real intent was point #2. Have said that, I must also say that too many laws and excessive bureaucracy is the bane of this society (and other countries too, like India).

IV has FINALLY gotten most of us Through the door. Now we have a 20,000 membership. If everyone of us contributes $10 per month that is $200,000 a month. If we cannot even contribute $10 PER MONTH, that is really really cheap of us.
Guys IV has done its job, now to ensure that we get to the finish line FAST, we need to dig into our pockets and not even very deep!

Hello,
I had taken advantage of concurrent filing. I have I-140 approved and I-485 pending for more than 180 days. I already have my EAD.
Rumours are that my company is in the process of layoffs. Can anyone enlighten me on my options?
1. Can the employer revoke my I-140?
2. If so, will I loose my PD and have to restart my GC process?
3. Do I have to invoke AC21 immediately?
4. What options do I have to keep my current file alive?
5. Any situation I need to be aware at this point?

I had a very similar situation when i applied for a load a year ago. The loan officer was puzzled with my immigration status. He initially pre-approved the load and then he called and said that the bank can't approved due to my immigration status. However, the deny letter did not say that and said that the reason for denial was a completely different one. I spoke to a lawyer regarding this and he said that as long as I don't have immigration status / or origin of mine as the reason of denial in writing, I don't have a case. And, he said, immigration status can be taken into consideration when applying for a loan. As such, I re-aplied in a different bank and had no issues whatsoever.

First round of interviews went well - now have to send my details to their HR to make sure EB2 porting will work.
However, does filing AC21 (same or similar) cause a conflict with EB2 filing in this case? Should they file and get I-140 approved and then only I should join them?
1. Make sure that your new company's HR and lawyer are comfortable in supporting the fact that new job is same or similar to old job. It is a grey area and you can be the best judge on it.
2. When you join the new employer ask their attorney to send AC-21 letter to USCIS indicating that you have moved to a same or similar job based on AC-21 porting.
3. Filing for H1 or EAD is a personal choice - as far as GC processing goes I don't see a difference in using either.
4. If they are willing and and the position qualifies you to file EB-2 and port PD- sure go ahead.

Last year in March end I had an opportunity to go for business trip to Frankfurt, it was technical conference of my company. Just 5 days before the due date, my H1 was to expire. Thanks to this moron in my HR, the whole H1 renenwal was delayed to just 2 weeks before expiry. We paid extra to expedite the H1 renewal, fixed Visa stamping/interview apointment at Ottawa, ON same week as we applied for visa renewal. In-fact I had apointments paid for two consecutive days(friday and monday), just in-case the documents do not arrive on time. And they didn't ( aka Murphy Law) till saturday. So headed out on Sunday to Ottawa from MI. arrived Monday morning, got the visa extended next day. Arrived back in office on Wednesday morning, sent all the documents to Chicago consulate office, with same day delivery. Anxiously awaited to hear-back till Tursday afternoon. Started frantically calling consulate office on Friday Morning. Believe it or not someone did returnback my repeated calls and complained about why I was calling everyone in office and in future try to send application atleast 1-2 weeks before travel. My flight was booked for Saturday 3:00 pm in afternoon and believe it or not I collected my passport with visa at noon!!!:rolleyes:
P.S: Trip was great and in-fact also got chance to visit Paris!!!:cool:
