And what exactly is contributing to IV about? I read something about a rally, but I have this feeling that nothing we do or say is gonna what the behemoth yank senator and government thinks, to which we are just numbers, categories and despertate 3rd world replacable units.

Laws are not straightforward. They are bent, mended, amended etc... based on needs.
Current need is a Mexican population vote bank and American vote bank
Amnesty to Illegals - Mexican and latino immigrants love it - vote bank
Punishing h1b - Americans love it, Indians and other immigrants who already got GCs and citizenships love it as it reduces competition and kills it, so they love it - vote bank
Doing something for h1b - Latinos wont care, Americans wont like it, Industry will lose control over h1b if h1bs start getting GCs - no vote
Increasing h1b and allowing employers to show GC carrot - employers loveeee it
Punishing h1b severly - disaster for economy - so some relaxations will be made.
Overall - our lives will improve bit by bit due to efforts of organizations like IV etc...

I wanted to know if any one's online status changed after FP is completed.
I had an LUD on my record after my lawyer sent the clarification to USCIS. But the status remains the same as ".... Case in suspense". Did any one's status came to Pending or a less ominous one?

i do agree with gcsucks that he is pro indian, i have heard him defend migration from india when a caller called him to complain about the H1B program. but he sure is moody, cause if we catch him on the wrong day then the responce can be unpredictable.
once he did a show on why indian kids end up winning spelling bee, and it was an interesting analysis of our culture and our dedication towards education. but his primary concern was that someday it will sure happen that indians will start dominating the american lifestyle and policy.

What if you have to leave the job before 180 days, about after 150 days? When I say you have to that means there is no alternative. Employer-Employee issues. Quite a few folks here might be aware of it. But anyway, I read that USCIS will consider 180 days based on the I-485 'Received Date' and I-140 'Revoked date' will be the date USCIS act on the letter they receive from Employer requesting to revoke I-140 not the date employer will send letter to USCIS. I'm aware that there is no specific guidelines of which date USCIS will consider as 'Revoked date', but I heard USCIS mentioned verbally in many conference that they consider I-140 'Revoked date' as when USCIS act on the letter they receive from employer. Any thoughts?

Optimist, thanks for the clarification. Do you get a 3 year extention if?
a) I140 is aproved
b) I140 filed but pending
Thx
not true. Irrespective of whether your 485 is filed or not, if your PD is not current, you can get a 3 year extension of your H1 if your I-140 is filed.
Saying this based on personal experience, and this has also been clarified by USCIS in its FAQ. Your attorney needs to mention that and ask for 3 years when the extension request is made. If they request one, they'll get one.

Hello,
There is an official way to file a complaint against CBP individuals, see this link: https://help.cbp.gov/cgi-bin/customs.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1160&p_created=1257459854&p_sid=uJzYJiSj&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_srch=1&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX 3Jvd19jbnQ9MTQ3LDE0NyZwX3Byb2RzPSZwX2NhdHM9JnBfcHY 9JnBfY3Y9JnBfcGFnZT0xJnBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9Y29tcGxha W50IGFnYWluc3QgQ0JQIG9mZmljZXI!&p_li=&p_topview=1 (https://help.cbp.gov/cgi-bin/customs.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1160&p_created=1257459854&p_sid=uJzYJiSj&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_srch=1&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX 3Jvd19jbnQ9MTQ3LDE0NyZwX3Byb2RzPSZwX2NhdHM9JnBfcHY 9JnBfY3Y9JnBfcGFnZT0xJnBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9Y29tcGxha W50IGFnYWluc3QgQ0JQIG9mZmljZXI%21&p_li=&p_topview=1)
I request all affected to file the complaints here and request the revocation/reconsideration of their visas (especially if they have been subjected to deportation).
We should have this link in IV wiki.

Guys, this is not an Indian site. Half the posts have word Indian in them.
I am not apologetic about being Indian but lets remain true to the IV cause
The current economic crisis has many victims. To hear about this 90 year old woman who attempted suicide is depressing too. There is a slight twist at the end, Fannie Mae forgave her debt.
http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=5957063
On a different note, what about us folks who have been on this never ending path to legal immigration for ever and such events e.g economic crisis, rising unemployement etc impact us in a huge way and we don't have any recourse. What do you guys think should the USCIS do? Should they "forgive" us our circumstances. Should there be special rules in these unforseen circumstances?
gsc999, u are very correct. What about us? Someone in us can be next victim.

He will have the H1 status until the expiry date. But only thing he may not be able to transfer H1 if there is no other case is pending.
Youre allowed to stay in H1 status for 6 years. If you want to extend it over 6 years, that extension will be based on the EB petition (you need an LC and approved I-140). If that EB petition is denied and denied again thru appeals (MTRs), you are out of status.
Please read: http://www.immigration-information.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5293
Please consult your immigration attorney and do not rely on information posted here, that is your best chance at being assured.

Great to see that things are moving in DC at just the right time.
Also note to all the readers. I hope people realize that all the folks who are in DC right now (from Florida, NJ and other places) have
1) Paid for their trip at their personal expense
2) Are staying at hotels at their personal expense
3) Taken days off from work at personal expense
4) Paid for Rental Car/meals at personal expense
We are running short of funds and there is only so much the core volunteers can contribute (monetarily as well as timewise). Each of us have an equal stake in the outcome of what we are trying. Please consider contributing to Immigration Voice. If you have already contributed once, we urge you to please do so again. Also try and rope in your friends who are in the same boat.

All I did was call the Customs and Border Patrol office, explained my situation, and they transferred me to the appropriate officer who handled such issues. They just seemed to know what needed to be done.
Don't know if this helps but - I did mention clearly when explaining the situation that "a mistake was made by the CPB officer on the I-94" during my last entry.
I am not a lawyer, so I will not comment on the status question.
Good luck.
DVB
I am in the same situation right now, called both SFO and SJC airports and they seem to indicate they do not know anything about it. DVB how did you handle it ? Also, will it affect my status being on expired I-94 ?
