I agree with High skilled educated "illiterates" version part. Sad, but this is a bitter truth.
I have many friends that have pending I-485 application and almost all them act/behave as if they are green card holders. May be, it is due to feel good factor. May be, they feel like GC holder as spouse can work and/or start business. Infact, when asked about visa status, they state that they are almost green card holder.
Well, I hope they all get green cards. Having said that, until I-485 is approved, person is not green card holder.
In my opinion, EAD is a step towards green card status as it allows some freedom (AC-21, spouse can work), but it is just that, a step.

(I filed my AOS on July 2 at TSC)
TSC has officially progressed to 6/30 so the July filers should now start receiving their receipt notices! But the question is, what do we do after we get them, or in the worst case, if our AOS got rejected? There is nothing you or I can do at this time... the deadline to re-submit is over on August 17th.
The root cause of the whole problem is retrogression & country caps, and unless we speak up about it in one voice, no one will do anything to fix that root cause!
So keep looking at the road as you drive, but also take a moment to look beyond the next 1 mile... where there is a traffic jam in which you and I will get stuck for the next 5 to 10 years... unless we do something about it.. together!
So, please take a break from tracking receipts, and decide how long you are willing to renew EADs and worry about following the complex AC21 rules & regulations. If you are like me and not willing to do that forever, then make up your mind and attend the DC rally!

Completely agreee with hari_baby22. Couple of days back I posted that immigration voice could get a lot more donations if they publish there earnings/expenses report online and make everything transparent. I was in DC yesterday and today and it's a life changing experience. It was very well co-ordinated. Thanks to all the people who showed up. Three cheers to nixstor, Arun and the local team who had the difficult tasks of getting permits, co-ordinating with local authorities and everything went according to plan..Since I had lobby meetings in the PM had to leave early. They still had pletny of work to do. Their hard work paid off...

I hope USCIS explains to us on how their work distribution process works.
Forget about that even if they publish every quarter, how many I-485 from each country of chargeability and employment categories are pending any processing, it will help analyse when one can expect their approval.
At this moment TSC is following some Pilot plus program to adjudicate the I-140 and I-485 filed concurrent, that scrwes up many standalone I-140 for whom the PD is not current. According to USCIS policy your I-140 adjudication is independent of the country of chargeability and PD. Now how in the world we explain their Pilot plus program which ignores the I-140s from the retrogressed countries is only USCIS leadership knows.
NSC at least not going into this Pilot plus program and consistent in their approval patterns for both I-140 and I-485.
USCIS is under pressure for both Naturalization cases and the VISA number utilization prior to end of FY2008, which is Sept 30th 2008. We will see some kind of RFEs for July-Aug 2007 I-485 filers during Oct-Dec 2008 timeframe when USCIS has ample time in processing the I-485 petitions.
I dont see any RFE or any other progress on our I-485s until that time...and obviously the approvals will come later when the PDs for india EB-3 and EB-2 start moving further.

My 485, EAD and AP application received in NSC on AUG 2nd. My personal checks are not redeemed yet. I haven't received receipt numbers or EAD or FP.
But the USCIS receipting times states NSC is processing receipt notice for AUG 8th.
I don't know what's going on....
Do they transfer my case to TSC??? Because I am living in TX???
My employer office is in Illinois and my lawyer office is in Michigan.

Immigration and education should be two seperate things. NO support to categorize further on immigration, We should take out the country cap. It should be First come first serve basis. with necessary background checks on education and skills.

I didnt get notice yet .I read on these posts that we have only 30 days to file MTR.What if i dont get notice till that time .Is it appropraiate that my employer of his attorney contact CIS and let them know that we didnt recieve denail yet and that way have a proof and buy some time .

Do you want to keep converting it back and forth depending on what the exchange rate is?
Things to look at: How easy would it be to convert it back to the USD? What taxes will you be liable to? What are the associated fees?
forex trading can be a lucrative business if you have the discipline and patience.
Another thing you might want to consider: Gold is at an all time high demand right now. I think that price will keep going up.
Do any of you have any information on Foreign currency CD. I am thinking of opening CD account with Foreign currency possibly with Indian rupee.
Rupee is 47.50 today and i think its the best time to buy rupees rather keeping ur money in dollar.
Please throw some input.

If your old employer revokes the I-140, as part of the processing of that revocation the USCIS *might* issue an RFE or NOID asking you for an updated employment verification letter. Per my attorney its more likely that USCIS wont do anything to the 485 right now, but will check the status of the I-140 while processing my 485. As part of preadjudication it might happen earlier, but also possible that it will only happen when my PD is current or almost current (July-2006/EB2/India). If this is a sad story wonder what you would call people who have to wait for months and years for H1 approvals and LCA approvals.
My wife's and my labor took four years to approve .. H1 usually took anytime from 60 -90 days everytime ..
You should count yourself one of the lucky ones !

For eax, mine was Dec 2002.I downlaoded 2002,03,04.My record was found in 2004 database.
If you open the Access db (You need to have MS Access to view these files.If you dont have it, downlaod the free trail version from microsoft.com)
If you open the file, it is the database of all the Labors that are filed in that year.One of the attribute is the Employee name.You can also search on Attorney name.
If I were you, i would first filter on Employee State and then search for the Employee name.
Its simple.Try it and let me know if you need further help.
