How this conversion works. I am surprised to hear that your H4 to H1 got approved. I heard that any H4-H1 conversion will be counted againts the next years cap which opens up only in April'07. Was your wife on h1 before and got converted to h4 earlier? Then she may not be counted as she was already counted.
Tell me a good news that she was in H4 througout and got her new H1 approved now. It is fantastic news for all H4s. Still I will wait till Feb 15 to check whether I can file 485 through any supplemental bills before trying to get H1 for my wife.

I have done paid consultation with murthy office on this matter. As per them, one can continue to work on H1B even after returning on AP. One can also do H1B transfer to a different employer. Ofcourse, your exiting 797 should be valid while you are doing this. One can find this surprising, even after you "use EAD" you can ask for reinstatement of H1B status by filing H1 extension but one has to leave the country and apply for H1B stamp and enter on H1 to reinstate H1B status in this case.

Having shot 10's of thousands of pics on my cameras, I can tell you that I have formatted each of my CF cards only once, when I bought them. I've never had to reformat them for any reason. As Mats said, be careful not to pull them out of the camera when it's writing and you should have no problems.
There are many sensor cleaning threads here, but I'll echo the blower advice. The less you touch the sensor, the better off you are. I use an oilless diaphragm air compressor (for airbrush use, ~$100). It gives higher pressure air than a bulb blower, and has no propellants or oil in it that could end up on the camera. Most 'real' camera stores have sensor cleaning pads & solution these days. I too have used cotton swabs, and they will work, provided you don't leave any cotton fibers behind, which are a worse problem than the dust.

Hi everyone,
I have a question on changing jobs. I am on my second H1b and my h1 expires in a little over a year. I have a possible offer for a job and would like to change. My question is if i DO change jobs right now, can i still apply for my PERM and will i be eligible for further h1b extentions?
A friend mentioned to me that your labour needs to be applied for atleast one whole year (even if it has been approved in PERM), to be able to apply for any kind of H1 extentions.
Can someone on here please tell me what the law is on H1B extentions and how it works exactly in a case like mine.

We cannot keep 2 Social Security cards at the same time.
They took my card and put into a drawer containing old returned card.
I have seen an american women infront of me apply for a new card after her name change(after marrige). They took her old card and put into the drawer.
You can apply for a new card without the old card if you inform the card is lost.
You can replace your Social Security card if it is lost or stolen. You are limited to three replacement cards in a year and 10 during your lifetime.
Name change, taking out the restrictions will not count towards the replacement limit.

DL is essentially controlled by individual states. In MD they just give you 5 years irrespective of the visa expiry date. Only thing is that you need to have I-94/EAD + a visa (expired is fine). I have recently extended my MD drivers license thru mail.
In VA, I heard they would give only until the expiry of the EAD/H1B.

I transferred H1B from a teaching job (cap exempt) to a consulting company. As far as I remember, the H1B quota for companies was over at that time. I did not hear any complaints. Maybe my lawyer took care of it.
You should check to make sure.
May be you got lucky. AFAIK, transfers from non-profit/edu to for profit are always counted against the H1B visa number availability.

Full credits belong to CagedCactus who took the initiative to call the meet, chose the venue and time, brought snacks and coffee to the meet. And also to Bestin who drove all the way from Lansing to be with us.
It was nice to touch-base with some of the DC rally veterans and share our experience. And also to discover some neighbors :)
State chapter meets are a nice opportunity to meet people and build your network - which may prove very useful to you in the future. People who skip the meets don't know what they're missing.

Interestingly, when we got introduced our self I found that couple of guys are from my apartment complex where I live for the past three years but never met them before. Another two guys from nearby apartments which are in walk able distance.

1. Is this because B is the "future" employer? In the usual scenario, if B were the current employer who responds to the RFE, can I switch to C within 6 months of joining B?
2. Also, does USCIS ask for us to prove "Ability to Pay" from the employer who responds to any I485 RFE?
At the time of 485 approval if future employer (B) is responging to RFE then yes you must work for long-term with B, however, in today's world 6 months is considered long-term.

if you want to pay $100, it is easy. lesser amount is very difficult. I went through pain of using my banks online bill pay. It took me an hour to set it up. And couple of days back I received an email saying the bill has been returned - probably because it is more than 90 days!
I lost valuable time , IV lost some donation.

This sustain act is total BS. They want to increase H1-B numbers without reforming the EB system. They do not want to increase EB numbers. They do not want to do away with country quotas. They don't have country quotas in H1-B. This just creates more and more backlogs for everyone. I HOPE THIS BILL DOESN'T PASS. The companies and lawmakers just want cheap labor without "paying" for it. Just a bunch of self-serving bigots !

By writing about H1b (rather myself) I think I just got carried away with my emotions...but I did not edit it...atleast my emotions are better then their myths...

If knowledge was a threat then mankind would not have evolved to this stage today.

Found the following in Mathew Oh's website (please see the bottom of my post for it). I will be sending him an email to a) enquire the DOL about increased transparency on its backlog reduction efforts, b) qualify the gif image in the DOL's website stating the elimination of all backlog in 19 months.
My question is whether any of the core IV members have access to this conference? If so, it might be a wonderful opportunity to ask the officials key questions that relates to some of our goals. Whether they will answer them to our satisfaction is a different story. But, atleast we can ask them. Just a thought.
